Many popular contact lenses, like those made by Acuvue, have tiny numbers laser-etched on the outside edge. This helps you avoid the pain of putting a lens in backward:
Correct Side Up: Hold the lens up to the light on your finger. If the numbers read 1-2-3 from left to right, it is ready. The lens will look like a perfect round bowl.
Inside Out: If the numbers are backwards, the lens is inside out. The edges will flare outward like a soup bowl. Gently flip it back the other way!
